Marcolini, a great chocolatier with a global reach

29/10/2020

Last Monday, a jury of independent journalists unanimously elected Belgian Pierre Marcolini as the winner of the "World's Best Pastry Chef" award at the World Pastry Stars 2020.

This undoubtedly deserved distinction rewards a great chef who has spared neither his effort nor his know-how to reach the top of his game. Indeed, he is one of the rare chocolate makers to roast his own cocoa beans. Every year, he travels round the world in search of the best products, which he transforms himself.

Pierre Marcolini decided to set up his own business after winning the title of World Pastry Champion in Lyon in 1995. He started out modestly, in a 30m² workshop in the Brussels suburbs. Today, his factory in Haren covers 3,000 m² and produces 230 tons of pralines annually. Pierre Marcolini is also a multinational company that has 400 employees worldwide and supplies its delicacies through its boutiques in Japan, Paris and China.
