Liège Airport named best cargo airport in the world

06/11/2020

Liège airport was awarded the title of best cargo airport in the world 2020 during the 36th Air Cargo News Awards.

Other major international airports were nominated in the "Best Cargo Airport in the World 2020" category. But it was Liège airport that soared the highest, leaving four other contenders far behind, including Schiphol and Hong Kong.

"This is an exceptional award that recognises a year that has seen us face multiple challenges. These are obviously linked to our role as an essential link in the management of the health crisis, our position as a health airport, and also the flexibility of our teams, who have been able to respond to the expectations and concerns of our customers," said Luc Partoune, CEO of Liège Airport.

It is true that this has been the fastest growing airport in Europe for several years now. In addition to its exceptional location, it can rely on good rail links to attract potential customers. It is therefore the flexibility of its service offer that remains Liège Airport's major advantage over its competitors.

As a reminder, in 2020 the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) chose to set up their logistics platforms in Liège to deliver, among other items, medical and humanitarian equipment to developing countries.
