IBA will install high-tech proton therapy centre in important South Korean hospital
By the end of December 2025, Belgian technology company IBA agreed to partner with Seoul-based St Mary’s Hospital to install an innovative and advanced proton therapy centre covered by a corresponding service contract. In doing so, the hospital will provide world-best blood cancer and solid tumour treatment.

In concrete terms, this contract includes the equipment of the so-called Proteus®PLUS solution, which includes three specialised gantry rooms. There, the patient will be given highly precise radiation therapy by a gigantic steel construction called a gantry with 360-degree rotational ability. Once the competent bodies have approved IBA’s DynamicARC® technology, it will also be included. Multiple variable energy beams simultaneously attack the tumour from different directions, while keeping the dose to a minimum and leaving the surrounding healthy tissue as undamaged as possible.
IBA has a solid international reputation as a global leader in proton therapy, radiopharmaceutical and industrial particle accelerators, and dosimetry for radiotherapy. The recently signed partnership with one of the main South Korean hospitals will enhance the image of IBA and Belgium as reliable actors in the field of cutting-edge medical solutions, among others.
