Humans and nature can live in harmony

Floriade Expo 2022 will take place until 9 October, about 30 kilometres from Amsterdam. BelExpo, the Belgian Commission General for International Exhibitions, has used the opportunity to present the best of Belgium in the field of green and sustainable technologies.

Floriade Expo 2022 will be held for six months in Almere (Netherlands). This international horticultural exhibition welcomes no fewer than 400 participants from all over the world. This year's theme is Growing Green Cities. It is the opportunity for each country to present its vision of an environment in which humans and nature live in harmony.

The Belgian pavilion is not missing the opportunity to present the best of what our country does in terms of sustainable building techniques. The Belgian space is located on the waterfront over a surface area of 500 m² and hosts a pavilion and a garden designed by the architectural firm Nicolas Godelet Architects & Engineers.

The garden is a clever blend of wilderness and geometric lines. Only native Belgian plant species have their place there. Visitors can walk around this relaxing place inspired by the landscapes of our regions, where sky and clouds are given pride of place. Wooden games and an edible plant trail also add to the garden's beauty. The pavilion, where everything is done to minimise the environmental impact, is made with sustainable, recyclable or biodegradable materials.  Clay, wood, hemp, compostable bioplastic, all these materials will be recycled at the end of the exhibition.

We are certain that our horticultural specificities and innovations will win over the two million visitors expected at Floriade Expo 2022.
