According to an American magazine, thanks to the natural scenery surrounding it, the town of Dinant ranks in the top 10 of the most beautiful places to visit in Europe.

According to the American magazine Travel + Leisure, the town of Dinant, nestled in the meandering Haute-Meuse and bordered by spectacular boulders, is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Europe.

At an astonishing sixth place in a ranking dominated by Lake Como (Italy), followed by Corfu (Greece), Sissinghurst Castle Garden (England), Lauterbrunnen Valley (Switzerland) and Pienza (Italy), which closes the top 5, the little Belgian town has no shortage of assets.

This town of less than 15,000 inhabitants, located in the province of Namur, charms thanks to its exceptional geographical location in the heart of the Mosan Valley. "Dinant perfectly combines natural beauty and architectural features. On the one hand, you'll discover impressive architecture, such as the 13th-century Gothic collegiate church of Notre-Dame de Dinant; on the other, the Rocher Bayard, an imposing rock formation that once served as natural protection against the city's enemies," reads the American magazine.

The city of Copères (from the Germanic koper, meaning “copper”) also boasts a number of tourist attractions, including the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Leffe, still inhabited by the Prémontrés monks, the tower and caves of Mont-Fat and the Merveilleuse cave.

On the cultural front, Dinant often organizes musical events linked to a famous instrument, since Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone, was born here on November 6, 1814. And on the culinary front, Dinant's couque, an extremely hard cookie made from pure honey, wheat flour and sugar, is sure to surprise connoisseurs.

A great destination to visit in summer!
