Brussels Philharmonic nominated for a Grammy
Our very own Brussels Philharmonic is nominated for a Grammy Award along with jazz great Bill Frisell for the album “Orchestras (Live)”.
The album is nominated in the “Best Contemporary Instrumental Album” category and features 16 tracks and almost an hour and a half of jazzy joy.
It is part of a series set up by the Brussels Philharmonic together with Flagey (a well-known –and respected cultural institution in the capital) and Music Centre De Bijloke in Ghent. This project, entitled Jazz Meets Symphonic, has been going on since 2016.
Belgium has a long history with jazz, of course, from Brussels with its many clubs to Dinant, the cradle of the Saxophone, not to mention individual icons like Toots Thielemans, Fred Van Hove, Jef Neve or Philip Catherine.
