Belgium rewarded for its exceptional honey

It's official: Walloon honey has just been awarded the prestigious Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) label.

Wallonia is full of wonders, but today its particularly rich floral diversity has been honored. The Walloon bees buzzing in the fields of flowers have something to be proud of!

It's a real recognition for Walloon beekeepers: their golden nectar has just been awarded the prestigious Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) label. This is a European Union quality label awarded to certain agricultural products whose quality and other criteria are linked to a specific geographical area. In all, more than 30.000 beekeepers in Wallonia will now benefit from this label.

But how can we recognise it? The know-how of Walloon beekeepers is particularly remarkable: everything is produced according to the rules of the trade to guarantee a honey that is smooth, homogeneous and spreadable. Enjoy it on a slice of toast, in yoghurt or directly from the spoon – to be consumed without moderation!

The award of this label will open up new prospects for young beekeepers who want to enter the beekeeping market. They now have liquid gold in their hands...
