Belgium among the frontrunners in Europe for EV charging points

11/09/2025

Belgium is among the top countries in Europe when it comes to the number of publicly available charging points for electric vehicles.

Our country recently reached the milestone of 100,000 electric vehicle charging stations, making Belgium the number three country in Europe for charging points per capita. Policies and a changing mindset in the past years have made our fleet greener and more electric, with 650,000 plug-in vehicles on Belgian roads today. Those cars need somewhere other than the home front to charge, and a boom in the vehicles also led to a boom in charging stations.

Only the Netherlands (11 public charging points per 1,000 inhabitants) and Denmark (7.7) outshine Belgium’s 7.6 spots per 1,000 inhabitants. That number is projected to double by 2030, and if Belgians continue to go the greener mile, there could be up to 2 million electric vehicles on our roads by that timeline – an exciting prospect.

May Belgium continue to show the ... drive ... to expand its share of electric vehicles and charging points and stay at the forefront of alternatively fuelled transportation in Europe.
