Belgian sparkling wines score in world competition
Some people say Belgium is becoming a wine country and it shows from the latest Concours Mondial.

At the international competition held in Moldova in September, Belgium took home a whopping 22 medals, of which 12 were silver, 9 were gold, and one was the big gold medal, which went to the Cuvée Réserve 2019 of Chant d’Eole.
Domains Entre deux Monts in Heuvelland (West Flanders) and Wijndomein Vandersteene in East Flanders both took home several medals, but practically all of Belgium was represent, from Limburg to Hainaut passing by Liège.
Fun fact: while its full name is Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, the competition hasn’t actually been held in Brussels for a while. There are several events in different countries throughout the year, and this one was specifically focussed on sparkling wines.
Perhaps next time you raise a toast, you will reach for a glass of award-winning Belgian bubbles? In which case: santé!
