Belgian co-production wins César Award for Best Film

05/03/2026

At the 51st French Film Awards ceremony, ‘L'Attachement’, a film co-produced in Belgium, triumphed.

Without a doubt, the film L'Attachement, directed by Carine Tardieu, was the big winner at the 2026 French film awards ceremony. Directed by Carine Tardieu, this film, adapted from the novel L'Intimité by Alice Ferney, stood out as one of the most sensitive works of the year. Praised for its delicacy and emotional depth, it won the César for Best Film and Best Adaptation.

This success celebrates intimate cinema, focused on the complexity of human relationships and the subtlety of feelings.

The story tells of the encounter between Alex, the father of a young boy who finds himself alone after the death of his wife during the birth of a baby girl, and his neighbour Sandra, a childless feminist in her fifties. Gradually, an invisible bond develops between Elliot, Sandra and Alex: a certain attachment that clearly moved the jury.

A wonderful accolade for this Belgian co-production!
