Belgian bubbles win global award
Crowned the world's best Chardonnay in an international competition, Brut de Brabant Blanc de blancs is a sparkling wine produced in Belgium.

Undoubtedly helped by increasingly mild temperatures in north Europe over the last few decades, Belgian wine production is increasing in quantity and, above all, quality.
Every year, Belgian sparkling wines demonstrate that they can rival those produced by the most prestigious estates using the Champagne method. Once again, it was a Belgian product that came out on top in a competition held in Burgundy that brought together winemakers from some thirty countries.
All the wines were tasted blind (without knowing their geographical origin) by several hundred tasters. Based on visual appearance, smell and, of course, taste, each wine was given a rating for an overall classification and medals were awarded.
In the end, it was the Brut de Brabant Blanc de blancs from Domaine W, a vineyard located in Tubize (Walloon Brabant province), that received the ultimate accolade with the gold medal for best Chardonnay 2025 in its category.
Harvested by hand, then pressed with a traditional Champagne press to obtain a crystal-clear beverage, this Chardonnay charmed the connoisseurs. A fine achievement for this Domaine W wine, which is also certified 100% organic and 100% biodynamic after completing the entire fermentation process in barrels.
We're also delighted to see that increasing numbers of renowned restaurateurs, both in Belgium and abroad, are opting for Belgian wines to pair with their most delicate dishes.
