Brassband Bacchus, a brass band from Lennik in Flemish Brabant, has won second place at an international competition in the Netherlands.
The competition is held every four years, and Bacchus were defending their title from 2022. A nearly perfect score of 95.26 left them just a quarter percent short of the gold medal, but they took an honourable silver, and took home the prize for best soloist for their horn player Algirdas Gricius.
Gricius’ title of best soloist is a testament to the whole band and the massive amount of preparation they’ve put into this contest, and it is a confirmation that they are still among the best brass bands in the world.
Well done to Brassband Bacchus, and here’s hoping they’ll take first place again in four years time.
