Fact: Belgian newsroom receives European quality label

Belgian newsroom VRT NWS has been recognised at a European level for its fact-checking. 

The newsroom, which is active over various forms of media, as in television, website and radio, was recognised by the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN), making it one of 49 verified organisations across Europe. 

According to the network, membership signifies “an organisation’s rigorous commitment to provide accurate information ethically and transparently, without bias or prejudice and focus on matters in the public interest.” 

They also had to prove a “track record of excellence, integrity and accountability” based on a strict European code. 

With the new label for VRT NWS, there are now two Belgian newsrooms with the fact-checking quality label, the other being Knack.
