Did you know there is a bunker under the Parc de Bruxelles ?

As a legacy of the late thirties, this secret, strange and unexpected place in Brussels is above all a historical place.  This bunker, of which the entrance is located to the rear of the Cercle Gaulois and next to the Vauxhall, was built to provide shelter to military headquarters  in the event of an attack, but also to the members of the Royal family and to the members of Parliament, neighbours of the park.  Access to the bunker was provided by tunnels connecting it to the Parliament and to the Royal palace. During the second world war, the gestapo took control of this strategic location that was equipped with the communication tools available at the time. With its surface of 400 m², the bunker could accommodate up to 30 persons. After the war, the site was abandoned. Today, some people would like to open this vestige of the past and turn it into a museum or a cultural centre. With the necessary major renovations, they can pursue their dreams…
