Two exhibitions to celebrate KU Leuven’s 600 year anniversary

10 October 2025 - 22 February 2026
Leuven

In the wake of KU Leuven’s 600th anniversary, two exhibitions will illustrate the creation and evolution of the prestigious university.

Two iconic Leuven locations have been selected to tell the story of this institution: the university library and M Leuven, a museum just a stone’s throw away. The one in the library will be called “Routes naar kennis” (routes to knowledge) and the one at the museum -- “Kennis in zicht” (knowledge in sight).

In the first, the university promises to illustrate “how people from all across the world found the way to Leuven” and how the university pulled them in. Expect stories big and small of generations of students and academics.

The second exhibition attempts to show how KU Leuven and its researchers have been trying to understand the world, from rare objects to dinosaur fossils. How fun does that sound!

This Belgian university is internationally recognised and is often considered well among the 100 best in the world, including a 43rd place for the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2025.
