Queer cinema in the picture at Pink Screens festival in Brussels
Fans of queer cinema are in for a treat in the first weeks of November with the 24th edition of the Pink Screens festival.

Within that broad category, there is something for everyone, with literally hundreds of films to choose from in various genres and of varying lengths, hinging on three central topics: queer latitudes, queer & cheap, and “hecho en España”. Those last are queer films made in Spain, while “queer latitudes” films hinge on migration and the LGBTQI+ community, and “queer & cheap” explores films that open up new dimensions and were made with minimal means. As they put it themselves, “we wish you welcome into Absurdity!”
The festival also incorporates an exhibition, which this year is centred around the topic of the importance of communities, inviting visitors to “take the time to rethink the bonds that unite us and perhaps create new ones.”
Of course, no respectable film festival would be complete without some awards up for grabs, with a focus on short films: Best Animated and/or Experimental Short Film, Best International Short Fiction Film, and of course Best Belgian Short Film.
Sounds like excitement for all!
