Memling brought to life in the digital world

11 December 2024

Brugge
Belgium

Famed Bruges painter Hans Memling is being honoured and brought to life in a digital way in the city where he worked, lived and died.

Memling’s works are augmented with polyphonic music and the latest technology. His techniques are explained in a playful manner, through interactive games, including one where you can interactively alter a Memling masterpiece with your own creativity.

The title of the exhibition, Closer to Memling Experience, is then particularly pertinent, as you not only get to know the artist better, but you also get to use his work as a (not so) blank canvas.

While we here at Focus on Belgium are a little older than the minimum age of 7, we’re certainly as excited as we imagine a seven-year-old might be.

The exhibition is in two different museums in Bruges, namely the Groeninge museum and the recently renovated Sint-Janshospitaal museum.
