Pride Week is well underway in Brussels, with the LGBTQI+ community coming together around the theme “Unite, time to protect our rights.”

The focus is on “the rights, freedom, health, identity and diversity” of the community, and to underline all of this, there are various events throughout the city up until 18 May. From gestures like institutions flying or projecting rainbow flags via book clubs to courses and conferences, it is quite literally the talk of the town.

From the iconic Mont des Arts to the St Jacques district, there are plenty of interesting, inspiring, diverse, and uniting happenings to navigate in Brussels, culminating in the now classic Pride March on 17 May, coinciding with IDAHOT, the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.

Did you know that the Brussels Pride has been listed as intangible cultural heritage by the Brussels Capital Region? Fitting for a country that was the second in the world to allow two people of the same gender to marry.
