Toots Thielemans now at the Royal Library of Belgium

The music section at the Royal Library of Belgium is enriched with an exceptional new collection, the "Fonds Toots Thielemans" named after the Belgian musician who passed away on 22 August 2016 at the age of 94.

A jazz musician, he became the unquestionable reference in harmonica, playing works by Henry Mancini, Tin Pan Alley (Al Jolson-Buddy DeSylva era) and Hoagy Carmichael. He played with Charlie Parker, Charlie Haden, Ella Fitzgerald, David Sanborn, Quincy Jones, Billy Eckstine, Bill Evans, Jaco Pastorius, Natalie Cole, Pat Metheny, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Oscar Peterson, Nick Cave, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Larry Schneider, Alain Soler and many more.

The Fonds Toots Thielemans consists of hundreds of sound recordings and offers people the opportunity to discover and study the career of this musician who conquered the world with his harmonica and guitar on numerous recordings (records, CDs, films) and in concerts.
