31/03/2016

Inaugurated last September, Train World entered the 2016 edition of the Green Michelin Guide, a renowned touristic guide.

Train World was awarded three stars, the highest rating awarded by the guide. The museum is now among the ten best sights to visit during a week-end in Brussels, measuring up to the other 3 top 10 attractions: The Grand Place, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts and the Museum du Cinquantenaire,

For each of its destinations, the Michelin guide suggests, in addition to practical and cultural information, a selection of attractions and interesting regional activities, classified according to the famous Michelin stars: one star for "interesting", two stars for "worth visiting "and three stars for "worth the trip. "

Train World, the museum of the SNCB  located in Schaerbeek station, is entirely dedicated to trains, in particular to old locomotives. A project that makes sense in the country that is home to Europe's oldest railway, inaugurated in 1835, then linking Brussels and Malines.

Among the objects presented to the public, essentially coming from the collection that SNCB piled on five storage sites for many years, features for example the "Waasland", a 1842 locomotive for which part of the wall of the quay No. 1 of Brussels Nord station had to be taken down to get it in to the museum.

Train World’s success is also evident on social media and tourist sites recommendations. On Trip Advisor, Train World has reached the top 10 among the 325 attractions recommended in Brussels and third place on the list of museums to visit in Brussels.
