Stromae makes a film for the Olympic Games 2024

04/10/2017

Things have recently been rather quiet on the Stromae front, however, the artist has apparently had his hands full with a new audio visual project. Paul Van Haver, alias Stromae, has been directing the official film for Paris' nomination for the Olympic Games in 2024.

He was not doing this alone, but together with Luc Junior Tam (his brother and artistic director) and Martin Scali, a French director. The trio ‘Paul, Luc & Martin’ made the video in collaboration with the French production company Phantasm and the independent label Mosaert, founded by Van Haver and his wife Coralie Barbier.

The request for the video was issued in 2014 by the Nomination Committee, Paris City Hall and the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo. The film crew not only shot footage in France but also in Morocco, Ivory Coast and Thailand. The video illustrates moments experienced by every sportsperson during their career: victory, but also defeat.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) awarded the Olympic Games in 2024 to Paris during the 131st IOC Session in Lima, Peru on 13 September 2017. It will be the third time that the French capital has been entitled to organise the Games. The members of the IOC also announced that the Olympic Games in 2028 will be held in Los Angeles.
