At the international Venice Film Festival, Belgian director Fien Troch has been awarded a Silver Lion for her film Home. She received the Award for Best Director in the Orrizonti competition, a side competition for innovative film making.

Fien Troch was thrilled after receiving the Silver Lion:  “When we heard the news about the selection we already had a party, but now things will get out of hand” she told us from Venice.  “For many years we’ve been working on the project and this award is a most welcome guarantee of a prosperous future for this film.”

The fourth feature film of this Belgian director tells us the story of a group of sad teenagers who are constantly searching for exciting activities allowing them to escape their lives and the adults around them.  In this tense situation,  17 year old Kevin arrives at his aunt’s house after being released from an institution. The film handles some pressing questions related to betrayal, friendship, confidence and loyalty.

Now that the world premiere of Home  has been concluded, the film will go to Toronto (Canada) to be presented within the category  Platform. In Belgium the film will officially be presented at the Ghent Film Fest and from early January 2017 the public can admire Home in the Belgian cinemas.
