Prestigious exhibition for Luc Tuymans in Venice

26/10/2018

Next year, it will be possible to admire the work of Luc Tuymans in Venice. This is where the French billionaire, François Pinault, is organising a grand exhibition about the Belgian artist. The exhibition promises to be a great success.

For some years now, the billionaire François Pinault has been organising art exhibitions in Venice, to coincide with the renowned Biennale. For the 2019 edition, Pinault has chosen the work of Luc Tuymans. He has been a great fan and collector of the Belgian's work for many years, which is why he is offering him the chance to exhibit his work in Italy. In doing so, Tuymans is following in the footsteps of Damien Hirst.

Tuymans' first large solo exhibition in Italy will be entitled ‘La Pelle’ (The Skin). This refers to one of his own paintings, as well as the book by the Italian author Curzio Malaparte. The exhibition includes around eighty works. There will be both old and new pieces on show, whereby the display will cover the Belgian artist's complete career.

The exhibition will open to the public on 24 March. In fact, this is six weeks before the opening of the actual Biennale. It is already certain that the exhibition will be one of the major attractions of the summer.
