Over 60,000 visitors for comic strip festival

12/09/2024

More than 60,000 visitors took to the Comic Strip Festival in Brussels for all kinds of exhibitions and other activities.

Fans of the ninth art were like kids in a candy shop this weekend at Gare Maritime, the award-winning building on the Tour & Taxis site, with dozens of exhibitors, signing sessions, workshops; and even an international pavilion. Guided tours of the comic street art in the streets of Brussels were also organised in the spirit of the festival, both on foot and on bicycle.

Jean Van Hamme, the 85-year-old artist from Brussels known for Largo Winch and XIII among other exploits, was celebrated, which is only appropriate, seen as he is still one of the most read authors in the field.

Of course, the Belgian Comic Strip Centre was also a key part of the festivities of the weekend.
