Moscow gets acquainted with Bruegel

06/10/2017

A multimedia exhibition on the work of Pieter Bruegel the Elder will continue in Moscow until 31 January 2018. 'Bruegel - World Turned Upside Down' aims to use modern techniques to make the Russian audience appreciate this artist.

There will be no real paintings on display in the ARTPLAY Design Center in Moscow. However, Russian art fans - of all generations - can discover the work of Bruegel thanks to multimedia rooms, stories, touchscreens, moving images and sound effects.

Tourism Flanders has helped Artplay to set up this exhibition. Their aim, as part of the ‘Flemish Masters’ project, is to attract foreign art lovers to Belgium, to come and admire the authentic works of Flemish artists. In the coming years (2018-2020) Tourism Flanders will focus particularly on the lives and work of Van Eyck, Bruegel and Rubens. You can find more information on this website.

2019 marks the 450th anniversary of Bruegel's death and there are plenty of commemorative exhibitions and events in the pipeline. With this exhibition in Moscow, Tourism Flanders already hopes to tempt many Russians to visit our country.
