On 11 February, the Belgian-produced short film 'Le Film de l'Eté' (The Summer Movie) won the national Grand Prix during the closing ceremony of the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival.

Produced in Belgium by Michigan Films and Kidam and directed by Emmanuel Marre, 'Le Film de l'Eté' is a fictional film financed by several institutions, including Aide au Film Court, the department of Seine-Saint-Denis and the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles. It is one of the big winners of the 39th Clermont-Ferrand Festival, where the jury awarded it the Grand Prix. In terms of visitor numbers, the Clermont-Ferrand Festival is the largest French film festival after Cannes. It is also one of the largest short film festivals in the world.

Wallonie Bruxelles Images summarises 'Le Film de l'Eté' as follows: "'Le Film de l'Eté' is a film about motorways, tourists under transhumance, concrete picnic tables, lines to the restrooms, tepid melon slices and carwashes.  It is a film about a man who wants to leave and a small boy holding him back. It is a summer movie." In short, this story is a clever contrast between holidays and the sun, and a man's despair and solitude. The film will also be presented in the short film competition at the Berlinale, an international film festival which takes place in Berlin in early February each year.
