Belgian hip hop team dances to world title

The Belgian Empire Crew has won the World Hip Hop Dance Championships in the mega crew division. Following the European title, it is the second biggest victory of the year for the crew of twenty dancers.

In Vienna, Austria around seven hundred dancers competed for the Hip Hop Unite world title. The event was organised by FISAF International, the official aerobics, hip hop and gym federation. The Empire Crew, which was only founded in March, represented Belgium in the mega crew division, which is only open to teams with more than eight dancers; and they immediately won the title. Earlier this year, they already won the Belgian and European title.

The dancers of Empire Crew themselves could hardly believe it. "We never imagined that after only a few months of training we would already become World Champion. It's like a dream come true. After we won the Belgian title, we did fine-tune the choreography for weeks." That entire choreography was created by the dancers themselves, as the crew does not have a trainer. And their success story is unlikely to end anytime soon: in the television show Belgium’s Got Talent they made it to the second round after their first audition.
