The Wallonia Export-Investment Agency (AWEX) at the 2018 CES Show

31/01/2018

At the start of January, the Wallonia Export-Investment Agency (AWEX) took part in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. It is an event that the agency will remember since it was the first time it had taken part in the largest gathering in the world for consumer electronics.

However, AWEX, which is devoted entirely to export, did not make the journey alone. In addition to its official partner, Digital Wallonia, 14 other Walloon enterprises accompanied it on this adventure. Divided up between the AWEX and Eureka Park stands, the nine Walloon SMEs and five start-ups, among which the Acapela Group (Mons), Tessares (Louvain-la-Neuve), OkiDo Play (La Louvière) and Big Boy Systems (Wavre), represented varied fields such as the digitalisation of objects, the (de)compression of image and home automation.

Every year, this international event, devoted to technological and electronic innovations, attracts a growing number of journalists and enthusiasts, or high-tech experts from all over the world. This "Eldorado" of electronics offers the perfect place for companies, and those who are simply inquisitive, who want to discover the industry's new trends and future products, meet new partners and be more visible.

A goal achieved for AWEX and these Walloon companies, wishing to reinforce their image and their visibility, not only on the international stage and in the American market, but, above all, in Belgium itself. After a first failed attempt in 2007, this participation in the CES was a great success for AWEX, the know-how of which appears to be attracting an increasing amount of attention.
