Vichte-based company Rotolux prints your gift-wrapping paper

08/01/2026

Behind an inconspicuous factory façade located in Vichte (West Flanders), throughout the year machines are running non-stop to finish some lovely Christmas-themed gift-wrapping paper on time. People rarely seek out this paper while shopping, but it immediately catches the eye at first glance. Rotolux is the only company to manufacture this in Belgium.

Rotolux is successfully vying for the favours of its clients. To that effect, it uses richly inked thick coloured glazed paper, decorated with hundreds of surprising designs. Little Santas, mistletoes, moose, … join forces to systematically ramp up the joy of wrapping and unwrapping gifts and to turn the ultimate moment under the pine tree into a true ritual.

One would almost forget that manufacturing gift-wrapping paper is also an economic activity, characterized largely by advanced technologies and environmental considerations. Colour recipes must be accurate to the last drop of pigment, cameras are constantly monitoring the printing process … One client is satisfied with coated paper while the other swears by recycled paper. And make no mistake: all the Rotolux employees have the art of gift wrapping down to a tee. Only then does your product reveal its secrets, or so the reasoning goes.

Lastly, it has some hard numbers to show for it. Each week, 20 tonnes of wrapping paper are delivered to Rotolux on rolls of up to 1,000 kilos. Each year, the factory produces 20 million meters of gift-wrapping paper, 80% of which is shipped across the border.

The only thing left to do is to tie the red ribbon around it, curl it with scissors, and your Christmas gift … for 2026 is good to go!
