A very different kind of earplug
Belgian start-up Loop attended the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas to present its product: high-tech earplugs that combine cutting-edge technology with design so that wearers can enjoy music while also being stylish!
This is the story of a friendship that goes back to adolescence. Based on their own experience as students, Maarten Bodewes and Dimitri O have both experienced a time when they suffered from hearing problems.The two entrepreneurs from Antwerp were unhappy with the earplugs available on the market so had the brilliant idea of designing their own ear protection!
Dimitri O travelled to Las Vegas to promote his product: a type of earplug that allows wearers to listen to music and also protects their inner ear. He described them as "the perfect balance between protection and experience".
Loop has the advantage of being circular and hollow, which produces a unique sound. This aesthetic device is perfect for when you next go to a concert. "It provides a natural sound that allows you to clearly hear music and voices, and it also reduces the intensity of the sound," said Maarten Bodewes.
According to the WHO, more than 1.1 billion people around the world are likely to suffer hearing damage. In Europe, one in five young adults is said to have problems. By bringing the sound down to 20 decibels, Loop therefore offers a real alternative for enjoying safe entertainment.
