Tech hub coming in the heart of Europe

12/03/2026

Construction has begun in the Brussels municipality of Ixelles for what is supposed to become a European tech incubator hub.

The 10,000 square metre location for this incubator, which will be known as WAT, will be home to around 100 startups and is placed ideally among the greatest future minds, right in between the VUB and the ULB, Brussels’ two major universities.

The hottest topics of the day are of course artificial intelligence, energy, the climate and such like, and that’s exactly the sort of sector that the Belgian entrepreneur at the helm of this project has in mind in a first instance. He has a clear Eurocentric perspective, stating that “Europe has the capacity to develop competitive and ambitious technology, fully in line with its fundamental democratic values.”

While WAT should be fully up and running by 2028 according to current projections, some activities within the project have already taken place, such as a summer school for young children in July 2025.

We’re eager to see how far this new ambitious can be taken, and we wish our innovators the best of luck.
