Sioen has the wind in its sails

28/07/2016

On 27 July 2016, the Belgian company Sioen Industries NV announced the acquisition of Dimension-Polyant, the world market leader in sailcloth manufacturing for boats. The value of the transaction amounts to 38 million euros.

Dimension-Polyant's sailcloth is used for a wide range of boats and beach craft including racing yachts, excursion boats, dinghies, windsurf boards and kitesurfing kites. This technology equips yachts taking part in some of the world's most prestigious regattas including the America's Cup, the Vendée Globe, Sydney-Hobart and of course, the Olympic Games.

Dimension-Polyant is the only sailcloth manufacturer with its own ultra-modern weaving looms and finishing line. Weaving, finishing and laminating all take place on the same site, which means a short circuit and optimum control over the entire production chain.

Dimension-Polyant was founded in 1966 and currently has a +40% share in the world sailcloth market. Its head office is at Kempen in Germany with two other production sites based in the USA and Australia. The company also has operational facilities worldwide.

Sioen Industries and Dimension-Polyant have complementary technologies and will create future synergies by sharing their skills. Both are considered as leaders in terms of quality and innovation on their respective markets.
