Record year for the cargo airport Liege Airport

09/02/2018

717 000 tons of freight and growth amounting to 8.5%: 2017 was an excellent year for Liege Airport. E-commerce and the arrival of two new companies added to its success.

Liege Airport is Belgium's most important cargo airport and the eighth largest in Europe. In 2017 it benefited from economic development in Europe, but also from the growing importance of e-commerce, increasing the number of parcels on the move. All operators working in Liege airport made progress. Two new companies came on board, namely the Chinese Air China Cargo and the Russian Air Bridge Cargo.

Liege Airport intends to accelerate its investment programme thanks to this record year. This means the addition of new freight warehouses covering a total area of 20 000 m² and four new parking bays for heavy freight planes. The airport will also be organising an architectural competition for the construction of new office buildings.
