A record for Brussels Airport

Brussels national airport has welcomed over 5.3 million passengers over the two summer months. The number of travellers reached a historic high of 98,076 people on 29 July.

Summer was hot and the airport was hectic with 5,377,828 holidaymakers passing through the national airport in two months. Long-haul flights mostly used the air companies Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines and United Airlines while the Belgian airline, Brussels Airlines was more popular for the shorter flights.
The average number of passengers per flight rose form 130 to 136 passengers which is another record for the airport and its airlines. This is explained by the fall in the number of passenger flights, the use of larger aircraft and a better occupancy rate.
