A Belgian company specialized in bakery and patisserie has made a major move fortifying its leadership position In the industry.

Puratos, a company founded in 1919 by Belgian entrepreneur Henri Groot and his son, has officially acquired its American counterpart Dawn Foods. With over a century of experience, the Belgian giant boasts “expertise across bakery, patisserie and chocolate” and an innovation approach “strongly rooted in ingredient technology and long-term R&D, translating food science into differentiated ingredient solutions.”
With such expertise and power, the Belgian company looked to America and found a “complementary innovation engine” in Dawn Foods’ inventions driven by application. Puratos’ acquisition of Dawn Foods allows it to take the North American market by storm and strengthens Belgium’s reputation as a hub for high-value food innovation.
