Belgian medical waste enterprise moves to become global leader

Ecosteryl, a Belgian company specializing in sorting and treating medical waste, has acquired a French competitor to become a leader in the sectorr.

It’s well-known that Belgium has a booming pharmaceutical industry. With tremendous pharmaceutical products inevitably comes waste, and a company founded in Mons (in the province of Hainaut) in 1947 has ample expertise in dealing with it. By acquiring the French Bertin Medical Waste, they have cemented their leadership position, proclaiming “its position as the global leader in 100% electric medical treatment technologies”.

While the companies “remain two distinct identities, each maintaining its natural positioning and its network,” they cover a broad range of the market together, now being able to offer a wider variety of services. For Belgium, this expansion is more than a corporate milestone: it reinforces the country’s reputation as a pioneer in environmentally responsible healthcare solutions.

May both the pharmaceutical sector and its waste disposal counterpart continue to thrive in Belgium.
