A Belgian company’s innovative housing project

A Belgian entrepreneur and his son have come up with an innovative home that is environmentally friendly and completely self-sufficient.

A keen sailor, Belgian entrepreneur Raphaël Van Vlodorp has embarked on an ambitious project to build the home of the future. Founder of the Belgian company Aerofleet, he now works in collaboration with his son, Marc Van Vlodorp. Even as a child, Marc dreamt of this project, and they did it: the dome house was born. The extreme flooding that shook Belgium in 2021 was the catalyst for speeding things up and getting the project up and running quickly. It was imperative to stay protected from the ominous weather.

After many years of thought, research and work, the dome house was born. It's a 100% autonomous house offering optimum energy efficiency and, above all, resistance to extreme weather conditions. It can stand on land or water, on the banks of a lake, on a river or even at the top of a mountain! The dome house has many other qualities. In particular, it is very well insulated, thanks to insulation made from recycled bottles.

But this is not Aerofleet's first project. A few years earlier, they had already imagined an electro-solar catamaran. At the time, the boat was completely self-sufficient, thanks to the use of solar panels. It was even possible to transform river water into drinking water using a reverse osmosis filter.

Today, the cupola house has 65 square metres of living space, including a bedroom, a kitchen and a living room, but above all a 360° view - enough to take your breath away. Of course, it is possible to add an extra bedroom and bathroom facilities, depending on the customer's requirements.

Today, it takes no less than four months to build a dome house.
