The fruit trees are in bloom once more! Around this time of year, the country's largest fruit belt opens up its orchards for a luxury overnight stay amongst the beautiful blossoms.
The Hesbaye or Haspengouw is the ultimate region for enjoying natural beauty - and from a luxury tent, no less. Glamping Haspengouw offers a solution for those wishing to combine the comfort of a hotel with the wonders of nature. The term stems from glamorous camping. You do sleep in a tent, as with traditional camping, but there is electricity, a double bed with hotel pillows and sheets and a luxury bathroom provided. Take an evening walk among the fruit trees, then warm up by the campfire before a wonderful sleep in a tent that comes with a divan bed. Anything is possible here.
The glamping package deal offers space for seven to ten people and costs €50 per person. The tents can be found on the Honsberg in Zepperen until June, when they will move to the Sassenbroek wine estate in Borgloon. You will be able to enjoy this style of Haspengouw nature until 15 August.
The Hesbaye or Haspengouw is an area stretching across the provinces of Limburg, Namur, Flemish Brabant and Walloon Brabant. After South Tyrol, it is the largest fruit belt in Europe. Countless events are organised during the flowering season to celebrate this natural phenomenon, including outdoor fruit cafés, fruit walks and fruit picnics.
