Wendy Jans once again world champion snooker

12/12/2016

For the fifth consecutive time, Wendy Jans won the World Snooker Championship for amateurs. In Doha, Qatar she defeated the Indian Amee Kamani in the finale with 5-0.

This is Wendy Jans' sixth world title. It was also her tenth time in the finale of the World Championship. The list of achievements of the 33-year-old from Bree is impressive: besides six world titles (2006, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016), she has won 10 European titles and has been crowned as the Belgian champion 14 times. The only thing missing on her list of victories is an Olympic medal. To secure this, however, she will have to wait until at least 2024, when snooker might feature on the Olympic Games programme for the first time ever.
