In de Wulf third best European restaurant
The influential website Opinionated About Dining (AOD) has named chef Kobe Desramaults’ restaurant In de Wulf the third best restaurant in Europe. Numbers 1 and 2 are the French L'Arpège and the Spanish restaurant Azurmendi. In de Wulf is not the only Belgian restaurant that was appreciated. In total there are 20 Belgian restaurants in the ranking list.
Two years ago In De Wulf was number one of OAD's top 100+, last year it reached fourth place. This third place is also the last one Desramaults' establishment will have in the list. In December he is closing his restaurant. So whoever would like to enjoy Desramaults' cooking skills, will have to be quick. Awaiting a new culinary adventure, Desramaults is already collecting inspiration from various corners in the world.
AOD describes Desramaults as "one of the brightest stars in the culinary world, determined to show that the flavours and aromas of his home country are as interesting as those of other regions of the continent".
With 48 restaurants, France is best represented in the list. Followed by the United Kingdom with 28, Italy with 27 and Spain with 24 restaurants, our country with 20 restaurants is very well represented, all the more so when making the comparison in terms of area and population. Besides Kobe Desramaults and his In de Wulf, L'air du temps in Liernu, Hertog Jan in Zedelgem, Hof van Cleve in Kruishoutem, Bon-Bon in Brussels and The Jane in Antwerp are also among the list.
Opinionated About Dining is a website on which restaurant visitors worldwide can give their opinion about different restaurants, after which a ranking list is made via algorithms. The OAD ranking is the only ranking list including the experience of the visitor as a factor in the assessment. This year the results are based on more than 160,000 reviews from more than 4,500 gourmets. The algorithm carefully considers the expertise, experience and the capacity for critical judgement of the reviewers.
