Innovation award for Belgian law firm

13/10/2017

The Ghent-based law firm De Groote-De Man has won an innovation award from the Financial Times. The prize from this business newspaper is in recognition of the company's automated debt collection platform known as Unpaid. This platform allows companies to force payment of unpaid invoices legally, without court intervention.

Unpaid checks whether an invoice can be considered for a claim. When this is the case, the claim is automatically passed on to a bailiff, who in turn receives an electronic ruling from the judge. Unpaid manages to boost digitisation, simplify administration and improve customer focus all in one go. The platform also saves time and makes the whole procedure cheaper.

De Groote-De Man won the prize in the category 'new products and services' and, in doing so, beat more than one thousand other candidates from all across Europe. The Financial Times award has been in existence for eleven years. It is the first time that a Belgian law firm has won an award.
