Belgium one of the Top 3 most gay-friendly countries

15/03/2017

Belgium has been ranked third in the list of European countries that are most welcoming for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) workers. A ranking based on the "Expert Market" study which compares two types of criteria: the rights of homosexuals and their working conditions in each country.

The three countries topping the rankings are Norway, Finland and Belgium. According to this research, these are the best countries in terms of recognition and protection for the LGBT population. Indeed, the LGBT workers in these 3 countries enjoy a low unemployment rate and a higher than average salary.

In order for a country to be highly rated, it must offer good employment prospects, but not just that! It must also explicitly mention gender expression in its legislation. So, this is also a question of political commitment.

The study compares 43 European countries in total. And we are in 3rd place! An excellent result for Belgium!
