Belgium is among the top 10 countries to stimulate trade. According to a report issued by the World Economic Forum (WEF) our country scores particularly well for its excellent maritime connections.

Every two years the World Economic Forum (WEF) publishes a report in which the world's economies are judged on their ability to trade goods across their own borders. Belgium is included among the top 10 in the 2016 ranking. According to the WEF, Belgium is one of the most open economies in the world and enjoys good maritime connections in particular.

The WEF praises the good transport infrastructure of our ports and railways. Belgium also scores exceptionally well in terms of its efficiency and transparent procedures in its border administration. Finally, with its strong intellectual property rights and a well-developed financial sector, Belgium also demonstrates a favourable business climate. The report concluded that goods could be traded rapidly in Belgium and that our country stimulates trade.
