Stromae produces humorous new video for Major Lazer

Stromae has produced a satirical video poking fun at our selfie-obsessed society, for the American trio Major Lazer. The video went online on 12 April.

Stromae filmed the video to the song "Run Up" with the help of Luc Junior and Martin Scali. Having lampooned Twitter in his song 'Carmen', the Belgian singer has now turned his attention to our society's obsession with selfie-taking. This new video was produced in collaboration with PartyNextDoor and Nicki Minaj.

The clip shows a party full of people glued to their smartphones, experiencing their entire lives through their screen. In the words of Stromae, "the main idea was to use self-mockery to portray the (rather excessive) unconditional love that we have for our smartphones"

Run Up is not the Belgian singer's first production. In November 2016, Paul (alias Stromae), Luc and Martin produced the video "Coward" by Yael Naïm, using a pared-down and aesthetic style.
