Karrewiet hauls in European news award
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has honoured the programme 'Karrewiet' with the award for the clearest and most original news report. The youth news programme received this token of recognition for a report on strikes.
At its annual Youth News Exchange Meeting, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) gathered all European youth news broadcasters to review the past year. Karrewiet was granted an award in the category of clearest and most original news report.
At the beginning of June, the VRT's youth news programme broadcast a report on the strikes, explaining why the trade unions took to the streets to demonstrate. The award is a valuable token of recognition for the programme makers. "It is great to be able to bring a difficult subject across in a clear manner, across borders and cultures," the Karrewiet journalists said.
