Hell’o is invited into our living rooms thanks to Ikea

21/04/2017

As part of the 3rd edition of the Ikea Art Event this year, the Swedish retail giant has selected 12 artists from around the world whose artworks will be reproduced on high-quality posters sold in limited numbers.

Having chosen street art in 2015 and photography in 2016, Ikea has put design in the centre stage this year, as part of the Ikea Art Event. Various techniques have been incorporated, including graphite pencils, brushes and ink, wax crayons, watercolours, gouaches and pastels. The Swedish retail giant intends to use this initiative to make art accessible to everyone. Since modern art does not need to be confined to art galleries and museums, Ikea will present 12 hand-drawn posters by various artists, including the Brussels-based duo Hell’o.

Hell’o is a Brussels-based collective made up of two artists: Jérôme Meynen and Antoine Detaille. They produce drawings in black and white or colour, and paintings on paper or panels, in a phantasmagorical world. Combining African tribal art, Memphis Group design and pop culture, they create fantasy creatures in vibrant colours. Originally from Hainaut, the two artists now devise their creations in Brussels. The work they produced for Ikea is entitled We are one and retails for €9.99.  The complete range of modern illustrations is available now at all Ikea stores.
