Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne received an Honorary Dragon Award for their complete works at the 40th edition of the annual Göteborg Film Festival in Sweden. Their prize was presented on Saturday 4 February during a gala ceremony.

The festival's artistic director, Jonas Holmberg: ‘The Belgian director brothers are the most influential film-makers of the last twenty years. Using a fusion of social realism, sublime drama and their resolute loyalty towards society's vulnerable members they have created a style for a whole generation of film-makers and have inspired many great films in modern film history.’

Their latest feature film, La Fille inconnue, was on show in Göteborg. Their other most famous works and even their early little-known documentaries were presented during a retrospective. The Dardenne brothers are best known for La Promesse, Rosetta, Le Fils, L'Enfant, Le Silence de Lorna, Le Gamin au Vélo and Deux Jours, une Nuit.
