Solvay has started a new production line for carbon fibre in the United States. In doing so, the department of the chemical company in Piedmont has doubled its production capacity. The Belgian company's production line was also certified by The Boeing Company.

Solvay is doubling the capacity of carbon fibre with a new production line in the United States. The raw material is used to strengthen materials made from different components. These composites are especially important in the aviation industry. Nowadays, aircraft manufacturers are always searching for lighter composites for their models. Boeing Company immediately commissioned the new Solvay production line in the American city of Piedmont to produce elements such as movable wing flaps and interior applications.

Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, CEO of Solvay, is very happy about the capacity expansion. We are expanding the delivery possibilities to our clients and are responding to the growing demand for strengthened composites which are not only reducing weight and fuel consumption, but also the assembly costs. Solvay is able to strengthen its leading position thanks to the production expansion."

The Solvay Group mainly thanks its leading position to its focus on innovation. On the Solvay Campus in Brussels, around 200 people are working daily on the development of new models of sustainable chemistry. The Group was founded in 1863 when Ernest Solvay started the production of soda with the use of ammonia. The past decades, Solvay has continued to reinvent itself and today the company, with its headquarters in Belgium, employs over 30,000 employees in 53 countries.
