A record breaking summer at Charleroi airport

20/09/2017

After a month of July during which the number of passengers beat the record, August was also very busy at Brussels South Charleroi Airport. Indeed, the airport broke two records with 800,602 passengers, namely a massive 10% increase compared to the results for August 2016.

Airline companies also reported excellent passenger figures with occupancy rates over 90% in July and August. Italy, Spain, France and Morocco are among the five most popular destinations. Poland takes fifth place, proving the attraction of city breaks and Central and Easter European countries.

Never before has the Walloon airport seen so many passengers on its runway in one month. This record can be explained by "several new features", such as the arrival in recent months of the airline companies Air Corsica and Belavia and the increase in TUI Fly's presence thanks to the addition of a fifth plane.
