Kinepolis continues its worldwide expansion. With the takeover of Landmark Cinemas, the Belgian cinema group now also gains a foothold in Canada. Kinepolis already has operations in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Luxemburg, Switzerland and Poland.

Landmark Cinemas is the second largest cinema operator in Canada, with 44 movie theatres, 303 screens and 55,000 seats. As a result of the takeover, Kinepolis is almost doubling the number of multiplexes operated by the group, from 48 to 92. The Kinepolis Group also revealed its plans to build new cinemas in Canada.

The takeover is not yet complete. Kinepolis is still waiting for the Canadian regulator to give the go-ahead. The group expects this to happen before the end of the year. The deal is worth 84.2 million euros.
